Kennebec River Sturgeon

A sturgeon leaps into the air from the Kennebec River in Augusta, Maine. 7/7/13. 30 frames/second HD video, taken with a Nikon D7100 DSLR. Click the icon in the lower right of the window to view in full-screen mode. This is my first capture of a sturgeon launching itself up through the surface of the water. Not knowing when a sturgeon will jump, I normally only begin capturing still photos after they're in the air.

on July 10, 2013Hmmm... good point. Thanks for pointing that out. The original .mov file, from the D7100, had audio. In fact, when the sturgeon hit the water, it made a most impressive splashing noise. Sounded like a gunshot! I trimmed the video clip in Windows Live Movie Maker, which apparently stripped the sound. Gotta investigate that. Maybe I need Adobe Premiere Elements to edit video. This is all new to me...

on July 10, 2013NICE! Definitely needs audio, though. Oh how the possibilities do flood to my mind! Wish I had been there.
